I did a cheap and fairly easy motor isolation project on my turntable. If done carefully, the mod is reversible. I found that the surface noise slightly decreased and the detail increased. The cost for parts is about $10 USD. It took me about an hour to make.

Here are the parts I used (I got it all, except the Bondo, at Lowe's):

  • 1: 2" copper pipe cap
  • sticky felt (for the bottom)
  • 9: big washers with 1/4" holes (or slugs with no holes)
  • 3: big washers with 3/8" holes
  • bondo (glazing putty is fine)
  • electrical tape
